Return Book Processing System

Problem:

The book of the month club receives five to seven tractor trailer loads of returned books every day. Postage due to the USPS must be calculated based on the weight and shipping location of each book.

Solution:

We created a networked computer system with a server and four client computers which were each connected to an industrial scale. The client computers weighed each book and added postage as required. At the end of the day, the server printed a manifest report with the total postage due to the USPS.
